Sarah Velasco

Violinist

 

Canadian-born violinist Sarah Velasco has performed across North America, Asia, and Europe and is currently residing in Switzerland where she is a soloist and chamber musician.

As a soloist, Sarah has performed with orchestras including The Georgia Philharmonic, The Toronto Sinfionetta, Orchestra London, The Kindred Spirits Orchestra, L’Orchestre de L’HEMU, L’Orchestre OS-M and L’Orchestre du Cœur.

2021, Sarah Velasco went on tour for the third year with internationally acclaimed violinist Renaud Capuçon with whom she has performed in some of Europe’s most prestigious festivals including Le Festival de musique de Menton, Festival de Rocamadour, Le Festival du Piano de la Roque d’Antheron, and Variations Musical de Tannay. Sarah also performed in venues including Les Arènes d’Arles, La Grange Au Lac, Evian, MC2 Grenoble, Grand Théâtre, Aix-en-Provence, Scène 55, Mougins, Dôme Théâtre, Albertville, France, Schloss Elmau, Krün, Graffenegg Auditorium in Germany, Beau- Rivage Palace, Lausanne and Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, Switzerland. She also performed in collaboration with The Verbier Festival, and Zermatt Festival with her string quartet, as well as The Crans Montana Classics Series, The Concordia Festival, and The Sion Festival with Duo64.

In addition to her projects as a soloist and chamber musician, Sarah took on the role as co-artistic director for L’Orchestre du Cœur in early 2022. She also appeared as the soloist for the most recent Youth Olympic Games, and appeared on national television in France and Switzerland for a number of concerts and a recent television series on M6.

Sarah is an adjudicator for a number of competitions including the Kiwanis Musical Festival of Greater Toronto.

Her most recent concert tour in 2024 reached audiences in cities including Aix-en Provence, Marseille and Paris.

Sarah Velasco has worked with world renowned artists including Shmuel Ashkenazi, Dmitri Berlinsky, Renaud Capuçon, Jan Dobrzelewski, Patrice Fontanarosa, Ilya Gringolts, Scott St. John, Ilya Kaler, David Kim, Soovin Kim, Mikhail Kopelman, Igor Volochine, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, and Pinchas Zukerman.

Her professors included Victor Danchenko, Erika Raum, Aaron Rosand, Sergiu Schwartz, Mark Skazinetsky, and Yuuki Wong.

Sarah graduated with her Bachelor of Music Degree (USA) Magna Cum Laude, her Master de Concert with the Domaine Musique et Arts de la Scène de la HES-SO prize and Master de Soloist at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne.
